PRI completes $41 million San Diego Fire Debris Removal contract

February 12, 2008

Project Resources, Inc. (PRI), announced completion of the debris removal phase of their $41 million Fire Debris Removal Contract with the County of San Diego. PRI completed removal work in less than 12 weeks from notice to proceed from the County. This prime contract required PRI to remove approximately 85,000 tons of hazardous fire debris from 589 properties damaged by the Harris Fire, the Witch Fire, and the Rice Fire – covering an area of 700 square miles. This was the largest wild fire removal contract in the history of the state of California.  The project was completed 6 weeks ahead of schedule.
As the fire debris removal manager/prime contractor, PRI performed pre-removal site assessments, removal of hazardous fire debris, and removal of fire-damaged concrete slabs. PRI also provided an extensive bilingual community relations program, including 24-hour maintenance and update of a website and hotline that allowed San Diego County residents to access information on their property cleanup.

Frank J. Loscavio, President of PRI, stated, “We were very pleased to be able to support the County of San Diego in helping our neighbors recover from the devastating wildfires in October. During the contract, PRI safely hauled more than 7,500 loads of debris to area landfills on trips totaling more than 600,000 miles without a single safety incident.  In addition, PRI recycled 90 percent of the concrete materials and 50 percent of the metals debris.”
